Life via Christ, or death via Adam

A transcribed excerpt from a message by Richard Jordan on 7/28/2013: Crypto Creatures
There was an old preacher that said “Character is what you do in the dark.”
But, you don’t live in the “dark,” you live in the “light.”  Your character is what you do ‘in Christ,’ not in your ‘old man.’ It is what He does in and through you.   If you live in that life that God gave you, that identity in His Son, and you treasure Him and you value Him in your decisions--making His thinking, His values, His life the treasure of your heart, you will be preparing yourself for the attitude that you’ll have for all eternity.
If you have no idea what the above is refering to...if it’s all over your head, can I tell you that “life in Christ Jesus” is a gift?  It doesn’t have anything to do with your comprehension of doctrine; it doesn’t have anything to do with your duties, your ceremonies, your correctness, your activities.    It has to do with one thing: trusting that Jesus Christ died for your sins, that he was buried and that he rose again.  You’re a sinner!  (Rom 3:23 KJB) Sin separates you from God and will end you up in the Lake of Fire one day.
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. [Rom 5:8 KJB]
You’re not fixing it; you’re not trying to repent and make it right, you were just going on in your own way and God commended his love toward you and Christ died for you.   All God wants is for you to agree with Him, that the death of Christ on Calvary is enough to pay for your sins.    You trust that and His death will become your death and, even more wonderful, His life will become your life.   You’ll be able to say with Paul…
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; YET NOT I, BUT CHRIST LIVETH IN ME: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. [Gal 2:20 KJB]
Don’t worry about religion.   Don’t worry about turning over a new leaf.  Right where you are, you don’t have to go anywhere, move a muscle, pray a prayer, make a deal with anybody—God or anybody else…just trust Him.  When He sees your faith resting in Him, exclusively, He’ll save you right then and there!  He’ll move you into His life, into His family.   Then, you get in His word and find out what He’s done for you.   But, the issue is “being in Christ,” you are either ‘in Adam’ or ‘in Him.’   The way you get out of Adam is that you trust Him, believe Him, and that He’ll do the rest.
If you’ve never done that or have a question about it, contact Shorewood Bible Church. For those who are saved, let’s just get on with who we are ‘in Him.’
