Witty Inventions

I love to think upon His word, to meditate upon every word, and seek to look at them according to how God defines them--not according to the present day culture--so as to have His perspective, His thinking!  

In reading this verse, "witty inventions" caught my eye.  

~I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.  [Proverbs 8:12]

What does that mean!?   While scripture tells us that a man can guide us [Acts 8:30, 31], we must remember it is the Holy Ghost that is our teacher, comparing spiritual things with spiritual [1 Corinthians 2:13], and that it is the Lord that gives understanding.  So, let's see what saith the scriptures?

INVENTIONS  …biblically speaking
Consider this: it is that which is produced (or a product or "device") from a man's VAIN IMAGINATION.  

(To ‘devise’ something is to think and/or plan something according to one’s [own] imagination.  The product resulting from such thinking [out of one’s imagination] is a “device*”.

Ecc 7:29

~Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many INVENTIONS.

Psalms 99:8; 106:29,39

~8 Thou answeredst them, O Lord our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their INVENTIONS.

~29 Thus they provoked him to anger with their INVENTIONS: and the plague brake in upon them.

~39 Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own INVENTIONS.

Romans 1:18-22; v21

~ For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became VAIN in their IMAGINATIONS, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Consider this... biblically speaking, a 'device' doesn't appear to be a good thing in the eyes of God.

Job 5:12 He disappointeth the DEVICES of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.

Job 21:27 Behold, I know your thoughts, and the DEVICES which ye wrongfully imagine against me.

Psalm 10:2 The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the DEVICES that they have imagined.

Psalm 33:10 The Lord bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the DEVICES of the people of none effect.

Psalm 37:7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked DEVICES to pass.

Proverbs 1:31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own DEVICES.

Proverbs 12:2 A good man obtaineth favour of the Lord: but a man of wicked DEVICES will he condemn.

Daniel 11:25 And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand: for they shall forecast DEVICES against him.

2 Corinthians 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his DEVICES.

WISDOM AND PRUDENCE

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom…

Consider this...We will have no excuse, as His wisdom is there for the willing of heart to receive. [Psalm 34:18]

Proverb 8:12  I WISDOM dwell with PRUDENCE, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.
Ephesians 1:8  Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all WISDOM and PRUDENCE;

Proverbs 16:16 How much better is it to get WISDOM than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

Proverbs 17:16 Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to get WISDOM, seeing he hath no heart to it?

Proverbs 19:8 He that getteth WISDOM loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
